Celebrate Día del Niño at Goshen Public Library
La Biblioteca Pública de Goshen se complace en presentar “Al Niño y Al Libro, Hay Que Celebrarlo: Noche de Lotería” el 30 de abril de 5 a 7:30 pm.
La biblioteca recibió una pequeña subvención de $500 por Día de REFORMA, la Asociación Nacional para Promover los Servicios Bibliotecarios y de Información para los latinos y los hispanohablantes, para organizar un evento que destaque a los autores, artistas y la cultura latinos.
La Biblioteca Pública de Goshen fue uno de los seis programas que recibieron la subvención nacional de 2024, junto con bibliotecas de California, Maryland e Illinois.
“Estamos muy agradecidos con REFORMA por el apoyo a nuestro programa”, dijo Grace Thomas, Gerente de Desarrollo y Participación Comunitaria. “¡Será una velada divertida en la que estaremos juntos y compartiremos las maravillosas historias y recursos que la biblioteca tiene para ofrecer!”
En el evento, se invita a las familias y miembros de la comunidad a explorar los materiales de la biblioteca escritos por autores e ilustradores latinos a través de un juego original de Lotería. También habrá un sorteo de libros sobre “¿Qué puedes hacer con una paleta?” y un carrito de paletas de La Tropicana.
“Aunque nuestros niños crecieron en los EE. UU., están muy familiarizados con esta tradición y están entusiasmados de que este evento se realice cerca de casa”, dijo Yolo López DeMarco, directora de marketing de Yolo Vox y patrocinadora de la biblioteca. “Estoy deseando compartir esta parte de nuestra cultura mexicana con el resto de la comunidad para celebrar a todos nuestros niños, porque es la diversidad lo que hace de Goshen un lugar más vibrante y divertido para vivir”.

The library was awarded a $500 Día Mini-Grant from REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking, to host an event highlighting Latino authors, performers, and culture on Día del Niño.
Goshen Public Library was one of only 6 programs awarded the 2024 national grant, along with libraries in California, Maryland and Illinois.
“We are very thankful to REFORMA for the support for our program,” said Grace Thomas, Development & Community Engagement Manager. “It’s going to be a fun evening of being together and sharing the wonderful stories and resources the library has to offer!”
At the event, families and community members are invited to explore the library’s materials that are written by Latino authors and illustrators through an original game of Lotería. There will also be a book giveaway featuring “What Can You Do with a Paleta?” and a paleta cart from La Tropicana.
“Even though our kids have grown up in the US, they are very familiar with this tradition and are excited that this event will be close to home,” said Yolo López DeMarco, Chief Marketing Officer of Yolo Vox and a library patron. “I’m looking forward to sharing this piece of our Mexican culture with the rest of the community to celebrate all of our children, because it’s the diversity that makes Goshen a more vibrant and fun place to live.”
