Goshen Public Library to Host Family Eclipse Programs

Come experience the wonder of the 2024 solar eclipse with Goshen Public Library’s free, educational family programming!

On March 28, Danae Wirth from Goshen College and the Goshen Historical Society will host a Friends & Family Science Night. Attendees will learn about solar and lunar eclipses as well as create a scale model of the eclipse to take home.

Attendees will also receive official eclipse glasses in preparation for the eclipse. Families and groups can register for the Friends & Family Science night at bit.ly/gpl-eclipse.

“Eclipses are fascinating, and it will be 20 years until there’s another total eclipse over the US, so I’m excited to share the glasses and programming with the community,” said Tina Ervin, Head of Children’s Services.

On April 8, the library will host an Eclipse Party on the north side of the building from 2:30-4:00 p.m, with the eclipse peak at 3:09 p.m. The event will feature music by the Zephyr Woodwind Quintet, a special popcorn blend from Shirley’s Popcorn, as well as other eclipse activities and safe viewing options.

There will be a limited number of eclipse glasses available for free distribution, thanks to a grant received from NASA to support education about the eclipse. The Eclipse Party is free and open to the public, and no pre-registration is required.
