La Biblioteca Pública de Goshen invita a Conectar Durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana
La Biblioteca Pública de Goshen tiene un calendario lleno de programas y eventos para celebrar otro brillante Mes de la Herencia Hispana con la comunidad de Goshen.
“Estoy increíblemente emocionada de aprender, celebrar, y compartir con nuestra comunidad las diferentes culturas y tradiciones que son esenciales para hacer a nuestra comunidad única,” dijo Adriana Martinez Diaz de Leon, Coordinadora de Servicios Comunitarios de la biblioteca.
Además de las tradicionales exhibiciones de libros temáticos en cada departamento, la biblioteca compartirá información cultural de las naciones hispanas en una mesa de exhibición en el área principal. Cada semana, la exhibición mostrará recetas, música, autores y otra información de todo el mundo. Muchas de esas piezas se relacionan con un recurso de la biblioteca, como una base de datos en línea, un libro o un CD, para que los visitantes puedan interactuar más con cualquier cosa que capte su interés.
El Departamento de Niños presentará una noche de Pinta y Bebe el 24 de septiembre a las 6 pm conducida por artistas locales Sandra Y. Perez y Paula Toth-Perez. Los participantes podrán beber aguas frescas y trabajar en un proyecto de arte, guiados por el dúo de madre e hija.
Los adolescentes están invitados a disfrutar de tres noches de cine gratis los días 16 y 30 de septiembre, y 14 de octubre. Cada uno de los títulos seleccionados explora identidades e historias de diferentes culturas latinoamericanas e hispanas. Para ver los títulos, visite goshenpl.org/events.
La biblioteca se complace en darle la bienvenida nuevamente al Mariachi ECo, un conjunto de cuerda juvenil lanzado en el otoño de 2023 que toca música tradicional de mariachi. El conjunto, dirigido por Hillary Harder, directora del programa de la Escuela Comunitaria de Artes, presentará una actuación musical en la biblioteca el 19 de octubre a las 11 am. El evento es gratuito y está bien para las personas que quieran asistir, y contará con refrigerios de un negocio local, La Panaderia Gutierrez.
“Esperamos que cada persona que visite la biblioteca este mes encuentre algo que refleje significativamente su propia vida y sus valores”, dijo Grace Thomas, Gerente de Desarrollo y Participación Comunitaria. “¡Ese es el objetivo todos los días, pero especialmente cuando hay una excusa para celebrar!”

Goshen Public Library Invites Connection during Hispanic Heritage Month
Goshen Public Library has a full calendar of programs and events to celebrate another vibrant Hispanic Heritage Month with the Goshen community.
“I am so incredibly excited to be able to learn, celebrate, and share with our community the different cultures and traditions that are essential to making our community unique,” said Adriana Martinez Diaz de Leon, a Community Outreach Specialist at the library.
Along with the traditional themed book displays in each department, the library will be sharing cultural information from Hispanic nations at a display table in the lobby. Each week, the display will showcase recipes, music, authors and other information from all over the world. Many of those pieces tie back to a library resource like an online database, book, or CD, so that visitors can engage further with anything that catches their interest.
The Children’s department is presenting a Paint and Sip Family Night on September 24 at 6 p.m., hosted by local artists Sandra Y. Pérez and Paula Toth-Pérez. Participants will sip aguas frescas and work on an art project, guided by the mother-daughter duo.
Teens and adults are invited to spend some time at three free movie nights on September 16, 30, and October 14. Each of the selected titles explores identity and stories from different Latin American and Hispanic cultures. To view the titles, visit goshenpl.org/events.
The library is thrilled to welcome back Mariachi ECo, a youth string ensemble launched in Fall 2023 that plays traditional mariachi music. The ensemble, led by Hillary Harder, Community School of the Arts Program Director, will present a musical performance at the library on October 19 at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to attend, and will feature refreshments from local business Gutierrez Bakery.
“We hope that each person who visits the library this month finds something that meaningfully reflects their own life and values,” said Grace Thomas, Development & Community Engagement Manager. “That’s the goal every day, but especially when there’s an excuse for celebration!”
