Board Appointee Guidelines

We are looking for candidates who:

• Currently live in Elkhart Township, and have done so for at least two years
• Are active users of our library and are familiar with our services
• Bring professional expertise to support the initiatives of the library
• Have a strong commitment to the preservation and expansion of libraries and library services
• Support the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights
• Will listen and consider other perspectives to reach a consensus
• Will act as a liaison between the library and the community

As a Trustee, you would:

• Abide by the bylaws established by and for the Board of Trustees of Goshen Public Library
• Prepare for and attend monthly meetings at the library, generally on the third Tuesday of each month
• Collaborate with the Library Director on the strategic direction of the library
• Review and approve the annual operating and capital budgets
• Monitor revenues and expenditures
• Consider and approve library policy
• Advocate for the library in the community and advocate for the community as a member of the library board
