Statement about Elkhart County Commissioners’ Resolution
This morning, the Elkhart County Commissioners approved a resolution in a 2:1 vote that affects public libraries. The end goal of this resolution is government-mandated censorship, and it runs counter to the liberties provided by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This example of government overreach removes parental authority. You can find the full statement released by public libraries regarding the resolution in the image below.
If you would like to show your support for public libraries, you can call the Statehouse to tell your lawmakers to oppose censorship and not call SB12 or HB1130 for committee hearings this session. The phone numbers are House Representatives: 800-382-9841 and Senate: 800-382-9467.
