The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) is a neutral, fact-finding agency dedicated to enforcing Indiana’s civil rights laws, eradicating illegal discrimination, and educating the public to ensure equal opportunity for all Hoosiers and visitors.
Illegal discrimination occurs when qualified individuals are denied equal rights based on protected characteristics such as race, color, gender, familial status, national origin, ancestry, religion, disability, age (for those over 40 in employment), and veteran status (in employment).
ICRC enforces civil rights laws in areas including employment, housing, public accommodation, credit, and education, and collaborates with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Community members can file complaints of illegal discrimination through the ICRC’s online portal at www.in.gov/icrc (available in over 100 languages), by calling (317) 232-2600, or by visiting the office; immigration status is not required.
Additionally, free brochures and posters on workplace harassment, fair housing, and resources for individuals with disabilities can be requested online.
