The Goshen Public Library has an immediate opening for a full-time Children’s Services Department Head. This position manages the staff, collections, programs and services of the Children’s Department and actively participates with the other members of the Management Team in fulfilling the Library’s overall mission to the public.

Duties include supervising department staff team, planning and implementing children’s programs and events, developing strong relationships with parents, schools and other educational and community groups and organizations, maintaining/developing a strong children’s collection, and serving as a member of the Library’s Management Team. Depending on the selectee’s overall qualifications, she/he may also assume additional responsibilities for overseeing teen services in perhaps 2-3 years, with additional compensation.

Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree; MLS from an ALA accredited program or significant coursework toward this degree at time of application. Relevant experience working with children in libraries. Must apply for and maintain an appropriate Indiana Librarian Certification including necessary LEUs within 5 years.

Desirable/Preferred: One or more of the following skills or specializations: Spanish language proficiency; early childhood literacy; Latino community relations; children’s literature; collection development; teen services; budgeting; supervision.

Salary range approx. $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
